| this post is for monica, my other one and only. so i guess i have two
ones, and two onlies. what is that...? i can't count...ok i gotta
finish this up later, cuz the stupid lab monitor just came in...can't
do this here :D
ok. what was i saying? oyeah...singing the praises of monica tung. gosh
i love her...i mean, i dont even know what to say. just speechless.
haha...lets see...i guess i could always write about stuff that
happened a while ago since i havn't updated since wat...august? did i
write about spring break yet? that was amazing. we did a trip down the
east coast, starting in cairns.
Cairns - famous for the great barrier reef. i got there in the evening,
a day later than everyone else in my group (dadler, ann, andrew, roxy,
shama, and molly) cuz i had to frickin be at school on thursday for a
class. we stayed at gilligan's, an uber nice hostel. that place could
almost have been a hotel. it was SO nice. it was 6 to a room, and each
room had its own bathroom. what hostel provides personal bathrooms???
so the next morning at like...7am, we had to get on a boat at the
harbor for our reef trip. frickin 3 hour ride out to the reef. we were
all more or less seasick. hahaha shama was puking, and roxy...she puked
over the side of the boat. we were on the upper deck, and the wind
would blow her spew back around and hit andrew who was sitting next to
her. or it would blow it down and around onto ppl on the lower deck. i
thought it was pretty funny :D so we got to go snorkeling and scuba
diving in two different places. it was soooo awesome. never gone scuba
diving before. we saw giant clams, anenome, sea cucumbers, etc. stuff u
only see on the nature channel at home. and then we sat thru another 3
hour ride back to land. ugh...next day, we did Cape Tribulation. the
only place in the world where the reef touches the rainforest. i
thought that was really cool. the weather was kinda blehhh and cloudy,
but still fun. there are the weirdest road signs/signs in general in
australia. we stopped at a zoo where we saw cassowaries (huge birds
known to kill ppl) and koalas and kangaroos and all that jazz. and
there was also a river cruise down the Daintree river to search for
giant saltwater? crocodiles. We saw...2 grown males. one was named
gummy cuz he doesn't hav that many teeth left. i think he was
like...ohman i dont even kno...8 ft? these things are HUGE. the river
guide told us that he always sees idiots in the river, like in a tiny
canoe with their baby son or something paddling around. these crocs are
dangerous. what dumbass takes their baby into a river where we saw
probly around 4 crocodiles within a mile or two of river. and we saw
cape trib - gorgeous. and we also did a little hike and swam in a
(safe) river. freezing cold, but a lot of fun. after that we left
cairns and took a 5 hour bus ride to townsville.
Magnetic Island - so townsville is the entrance to magnetic island. we
got to the ferry station, and ferried it over to the island. pretty
cool n all. didn't get seasick this time thankgawd. magnetic was really
chill. we stayed at xbase in a sanctuary room. haha the sanctuary rooms
are supposed to be all female dorms with special hair products n crap,
but i think they decided just to shove all 7 of us in this one room -
without the amenities. the beach was literally a few steps away. the
first night we took the bus to the other side of the island to eat at
this restaurant that had mango in its name that sounded amazing. too
bad we got there and were told that it had closed a couple months ago.
thats ok, we found another restaurant. next day, we rented scooters!!!
they weren't vespas, but it was highly exciting. we zipped around the
island, did some hiking, rented some snorkeling gear, and snorkeled at
florence bay. florence bay was really cool too. the beach was real flat
and shallow so taht u could walk really far into the water. someone saw
a stingray there. i missed it, but it was fun. oh almost forgot to
mention. we definately ate something like...4 days of bananas and
bread. in cairns we had bananas and bread for two breakfasts. in
magnetic, we bought bananas, bread, trailmix, and granola bars and
shoved it into the scooter seats. haha. i've never eaten so much banana
and bread in such a short time. and...that's about it to magnetic.
another 4? hour bus ride to airlie beach.
Whitsundays - like townsville, airlie beach was the entrance to the
whitsundays. the whitsundays are a chain of islands of the coast, and
its known for how incredibly beautiful it is there, as well as for the
sailing. we had a day in airlie beach, where we stayed at magnum's - it
cost something liek $1 to rent pillows, $10 for a blanket...ridiculous
stuff. we wandered around airlie beach, checked out the "lagoon." i
thought it was a real lagoon, but nooo. it's this manmade lagoon
looking out over the harbour, right next to the beach. how retarded is
that? i would rather have gone to the beach. but i did find a used
bookstore and bought a book.
to be continued...this is getting ridiculously long and grace is getting tired...
next episode : whitsundays magic!!!

i love jenn su. i don't know what i'd do without her. in fact, i'm
pining for her RIGHT NOW. i'm just so confused. all these feelings.
jenn su don't be so far away!!!
hehe...neway...its been good. we finished classes this week, and as i
have no finals, i am done. yeah that's right, DONE. i'm not leaving
until nov. 30 at the earliest, but i think i'm going to stay through
december. why? cuz it's frickin australia and who wants to go home
neway??? i'll be in thailand from the 11 to the 22, in noosa and fraser
island from 23 to 27, and possibly new zealand from in early-mid
december. im excited...
almost got evicted cuz of a stupid halloween party. that was fun. not.
umm...yeah...that's all. short post, but APPRECIATE IT JENN SU!

| i just had the best heart-to-heart with ivan. so weird. i talk to him
two-three times a year? i've seen him...once since high school? he's an
amazing guy to talk to though. he (the drummer, THE position to be) and
his band are trying to come out w/ a cd, and a tour. really hope they
make it.
dude it was refreshing to talk to someone. enough so that i'm posting
it on xanga. ??! kinda lame that it was on aim, but i think it was
sincere, so its all good.
though, i feel like i've had a lot of friends who i'm real good with
for a few years, and am really close to, and then...it just drops off.
and i'll try, but can't reclaim that at all. its really depressing that
that happens. i can probably list something like...10 or more ppl like
that. every time i find someone really cool, i hope that it lasts, but
it rarely does. which makes me think of that robert frost poem in the
outsiders. "nothing gold can stay" i hope that's not the case. i really
really really ridiculously do.
just like heath ledger is really really really ridiculously
good-looking. and he doesn't live too far away from where i am.
supposedly, u can see his house from the coastwalk cuz its right on the
beach. but i'm not stalker enough to actually figure out which one it
is. there are some amazing houses there though. i'd live in any one of
them. with or without heath ledger.
there's also a way cool old cemetery on the coastwalk. yeah, creepy,
but if u saw it, u wouldn't be freaked out. its awesome. i need to find
some time to just hang out there and look at all the old gravestones n
stuff. i'm a big history dork, wat can i say.

| we ripped up Darling Harbour tonite. and by ripped up, i mean we just
chilled and stuff. it was really nice. i went with ann and two other
kids from cu and duke. and then some girls from...duke and...i ferget
met up with us. darling harbour's gorgeous at night. i wonder wat it
looks like in the day though.
so tomorrow we're going surfing. for sure. if we can wake up.
tomorrow's also this big event called City2Surf where ppl run from the
city to bondi beach. ilana and marcie signed up for 17km, which i hear
is about 9mi. sounds good. not. it sounds like a good idea, but not
nething i'd ever wanna run. we'll be surfing at bondi beach tomorrow,
so i hope it's not super crowded. ack i'm excited
time to hav some chocolate and go to bed
